What Is the BC Provincial Nominee Program?

The BC PNP allows British Columbia to nominate skilled workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs for Canadian permanent residency. The program uses the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) to score and rank candidates based on economic factors relevant to BC’s labour market.

Important — the BC PNP changed on April 23, 2026. British Columbia rebuilt its Provincial Nominee Program under the “Look West” strategy around three priorities: Care (healthcare, education, childcare and veterinary roles), Build (certified construction and infrastructure trades) and Innovate (high-economic-impact professionals and entrepreneurs). Skills Immigration now runs through two active pathways — Skilled Worker (register a free SIRS profile and wait for a targeted Invitation to Apply) and Health Authority (apply directly, no SIRS registration). The former BC PNP Tech, International Graduate, International Post-Graduate and Entry Level & Semi-Skilled streams were discontinued. Applications are still scored on the 200-point SIRS grid (effective December 4, 2025).

BC PNP SIRS Scoring Factors

Your SIRS score is calculated based on several factors including your job offer details (wage level, NOC category, region), education credentials, language proficiency, and work experience. Higher-paying jobs in in-demand occupations and smaller communities outside Vancouver tend to receive more points.

Why Choose British Columbia?

BC is home to Vancouver, consistently ranked among the world’s most liveable cities. The province has a diverse economy spanning technology, film and entertainment, forestry, mining, tourism, and international trade. BC’s tech sector in particular has seen explosive growth, with companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple establishing significant operations in Vancouver.

BC PNP Calculator — FAQ

What is a good BC PNP SIRS score?
SIRS cutoff scores vary by category and draw. Cutoffs are now set per targeted sub-category in each draw and vary widely — for example, the May 6, 2026 sector draw used minimums of about 108 (Care: Health), 115 (Care: Education) and 100 (Care: Veterinary). There is no longer a single category-wide cutoff. Check BC’s official WelcomeBC draw results for the most current numbers.
Do I need a job offer for BC PNP?
Yes. Under the 2026 structure, a valid, full-time, indeterminate job offer from a BC employer in a priority occupation is required for the Skilled Worker pathway. The former International Post-Graduate route, which once let certain master’s/PhD graduates apply without a job offer, was discontinued in the April 2026 overhaul.
Can I apply to BC PNP through Express Entry?
Yes. BC PNP has an Express Entry BC (EEBC) stream that is aligned with the federal Express Entry system. If you receive a BC provincial nomination through EEBC, 600 points are added to your CRS score.
Is the BC PNP Tech stream still available?
No. The BC PNP Tech stream was discontinued (final tech draw December 3, 2024) and did not return under the April 2026 “Look West” overhaul. Technology workers are now considered under the Innovate priority within the Skilled Worker pathway, subject to a valid BC job offer and a targeted Invitation to Apply.
How long does BC PNP processing take?
After receiving an invitation, you have 30 days to submit a complete application. BC PNP aims to process nominations within 2–4 months. If you applied through EEBC, the federal Express Entry PR application is then processed within approximately 6 months.
