What Is the BC Provincial Nominee Program?

The BC PNP allows British Columbia to nominate skilled workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs for Canadian permanent residency. The program uses the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) to score and rank candidates based on economic factors relevant to BC’s labour market.

Important — the BC PNP changed on April 23, 2026. British Columbia rebuilt its Provincial Nominee Program under the “Look West” strategy around three priorities: Care (healthcare, education, childcare and veterinary roles), Build (certified construction and infrastructure trades) and Innovate (high-economic-impact professionals and entrepreneurs). Skills Immigration now runs through two active pathways — Skilled Worker (register a free SIRS profile and wait for a targeted Invitation to Apply) and Health Authority (apply directly, no SIRS registration). The former BC PNP Tech, International Graduate, International Post-Graduate and Entry Level & Semi-Skilled streams were discontinued. Applications are still scored on the 200-point SIRS grid (effective December 4, 2025).

Your SIRS score is calculated based on several factors including your job offer details (wage level, NOC category, region), education credentials, language proficiency, and work experience. Higher-paying jobs in in-demand occupations and smaller communities outside Vancouver tend to receive more points.
