Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program

AAIP is Alberta's Provincial Nominee Program that allows the province to select immigrants who can contribute to Alberta's economy. Successful AAIP nominees receive a provincial nomination, which provides 600 CRS bonus points in federal Express Entry, nearly guaranteeing federal permanent residence.
The Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS) is for skilled workers with job offers. The Alberta Express Entry Stream (AEES) targets candidates already in the federal Express Entry pool. Each stream has specific education, language, and work experience requirements that vary by occupation.
It depends on the stream. The Alberta Opportunity Stream requires a valid job offer from an Alberta employer. The Alberta Express Entry Stream does not require a job offer if you're in the federal Express Entry pool, but having one strengthens your application significantly.
NOCs (National Occupational Classifications) categorize all jobs in Canada. Alberta updates its eligible NOC list annually based on labor market needs. An occupation eligible this year might not be next year. We monitor changes and advise clients on timing and strategy.
Once you meet AAIP requirements and submit a complete application, nomination typically takes 4-8 months. After nomination, you submit to federal processing, which takes another 6 months. Total time from application to PR is typically 10-14 months if everything is correct.
The employer must complete an Employer Compliance Attestation confirming the job offer meets federal and provincial standards — full-time, permanent position, competitive wage, no requirement for Canadian education or experience. We liaise with employers to ensure all documentation is complete and compliant.
Yes. While Canadian work experience is an asset, it's not required for most AAIP streams. Your foreign work experience counts toward education and experience requirements. Our consultants assess your complete profile to determine eligibility.
AAIP (provincial) nominates you based on Alberta's specific labor needs. Federal Express Entry is a separate system based on comprehensive ranking of all Canadian applicants. AAIP provides a huge advantage because a nomination gives 600 CRS bonus points, making federal approval almost certain.
